We all know how important air conditioners are in the summer. After all, nothing feels better than walking into a cool home after spending a hot day outside. That's why, I was shocked when I read a news article about a particular event in Bennington, Vermont.
According to the Bennington Banner, a local news source, police are currently looking for two men that stole air conditioning units on two different occasions. Apparently, the thieves walked into a Rite Aid for the first time on April 24 a little after noon. They picked up and walked out with a Sunbeam 8000 BTU air conditioner, which costs $300!
The second time, the two men returned to the Rite Aid on April 27 a little before 10 a.m. During this robbery, each thief picked up a smaller Sunbeam air conditioner unit valued at $170. Thankfully, one employee observed the men walking into a white pickup truck with a New York registration.
According to the article, one of the men wears eyeglasses, is balding and has facial hair. The other man reportedly weighs around 225 pounds, has short hair, glasses and tattoos on both his arms. Both suspects were dressed casually, wearing, hooded sweatshirts and jeans.
Reading articles like that make my blood boil. I've been the victim of theft before, and the police still haven't found who stole my stereo and wife's jewelry. It's incidents like the one that occurred in Vermont that make you realize how some people will go extremes to get what they want, even if it means breaking the law.
